The Isle of Raasay Distillery
Raasay Distillery started producing spirit in 2017 and has quickly become a central part of the community. Over 10% of the islands’ population are employed between the award winning guest accommodation, visitor centre and production facilities. This has allowed a significant number of the islands’ young people to remain or even move back here to work. The first Raasay single malt will be released for Christmas 2020 and expansion is underway to allow all maturation and bottling to take place on the island with the promise of new jobs and investment. Aside from the whisky, the distillery regularly hosts acclaimed traditional musicians from all over Scotland to perform in its popular Raasay Tunes events.
